The reports are wrong. David Bowie’s last live performance on stage was not with Alicia Keys at New York’s Hammersmith Ballroom, in 2006. Although not widely known, he did take to the stage a few months later.

In May 2007, David Bowie curated the High Line festival, 11-days of music, film, comedy and art.

Bowie’s last live performance on stage occurred during the festival, Saturday evening, 19 May 2007. He introduced comedian Ricky Gervais, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, by singing the ‘Little Fat Man’ song that he had performed in Extras, one of Gervais’ TV sitcoms.

It was Gervais’ first stand-up show in the USA.
