Directed
by Paul Leather and written by Yvonne Brissett,
the action centres around a birthday party for Zoey,
played by Rachel Henery.

The
party is winding down, the drink has been flowing
and the five friends are at the truth or dare
stage of the evening. Each spin of the champagne
bottle brings another revelation (think less love
triangle, more love pentangle).
The
characters and acting are believable, the direction
and camera work are unobtrusive and serve the
plot. I would have liked more exposition; it took
a couple of viewings before I was sure of who
was who.
The
cast, I think, are all new graduates from the
Birmingham School of Acting and they're all good.
Lizzie Feltham, who plays Vivien, could be an
actor to look out for - she delivers an eye catching
performance, but then again she does have the
best line in the film. The twist at the end made
me laugh out loud.

If
you'll forgive me, the simple truth about The Simple
Truth is that it is entertaining. It is worth ten
minutes of your time.
The
film received its premiere at the Electric Cinema
in Birmingham - but it's bound to be shown at
film festivals at the end of 2006 / early 2007.
Catch it if you can.
