Had
numb toes and very occasionally numbness in my
fingers last Oct, which sent me in to full blown
panic - gave up smoking, which exacerbated the
problem; woke up at 4 am with pins and needles
in arms and legs; not surprisingly I was in A&E
within the hour, wide eyed and petrified. At reception
I could hear my heart in my ears, and see the
terror in my eyes reflected in theirs.
Fortunately
reception staff in hospitals are accustomed with
dealing with people who are having problems with
reality. I waited 5 hrs to see a nurse who couldn't
understand what the problem was. She was German,
sleepless and wore a stunning red bra... a new
problem was rising, and it had nothing to do with
pins and needles.
After
a month of constant visits to the doctors I was
told the numbness was perfectly normal and would
go as quick and mysteriously as it had come, the
doc gave it a particular name which I've since
forgot.
I
naturally thought it was Reynauds - a circulatory
disease. I have much in common with Woody Allen,
being vaguely intelligent & perversly neurotic.
Moral
of the story GET IT CHECKED OUT. My system was
going through serious chemical changes, but the
main reason was serious stress which was there
in the first place 'cos I was too scared to go
and get it checked out.
As
you don't smoke heaps of shit like most people,
you're unlikely to have anything circulatory wrong,
but don't leave it. Catch u soon and take care
Scott.
