A monkey friend of one of the geese

Don't bite the shoppers
September 2002

In today's Guardian (UK newspaper, September 3rd, 2002) there was a photograph of some geese being arrested by police.

I arrest you for crimes against ice skating, monkey goose

The incident took place in Tianjin, a port in China. The geese didn't look very guilty. They did look surprised (maybe they had spotted a lion driving a taxi?).

The geese were arrested for biting two shoppers. Tianjin police have confirmed that they have thrown the book at them. They would not comment on whether the suspects had bitten it.

As it was bundled into the back of a police van, one of the geese, through a translator, said:

"I've got a grocer and two firemen to bite before lunch and then I've got to honk".

Larry, one of the bite victims, commented: "I only approached the geese to get a refund. The socks they sold me don't fit. I don't have webbed feet."

Larry has surrendered a empty cardboard box. Tianjin trading standards officials are looking into it.

"Honk" said one of the geese.

P.S. I bought some binoculars today. Well. I think they were binoculars. I bought them from this chap who was standing in a field about half a mile away. I could hardly see him.
